Joshua 7:24
Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Apr. 21, ACHAN (Jos. 7:24). In The New Testament, we can read a story similar to Achan, the story of decisive punishment, the story of Ananias Saphira. They died directly after the sin. No chance of confession, self defense, explanation, etc. Achan’s story was a little bit different, but close. Achan was given a chance to ask forgiveness, but he didn’t do it. He was given the chance to confess, to explain, to open his sins, but he didn’t ask forgiveness. He was so arrogant. No expression of regret. No feeling of remorse, at least for his children. How could he be so hard and have no feeling of pity over his children?
a. No begging.
He didn’t ask mercy from God. He didn’t say please God forgive me. Please God give me mercy. Please God give me a chance.
b. No kneeling.
He didn’t kneel before Joshua, when he was questioned or when he was brought to Achor.
c. No crying.
He and his family didn’t cry. No tears. No remorse. No expression of sadness.
Let’s we be always honest and humble in our life. ASH.
