Joshua 13:22
In addition to those slain in battle, the Israelites had put to the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Apr. 27, BALAAM (Jos. 13:22). It is very surprising to read the end of Balaam. The same Balaam whom was called by Balak to curse The Israelites. Although, Balaam was special, he still was punished. He was special because he could see and communicate with God. He tried to obey God by waiting and asking for the will of God. His donkey was able to speak to him. He built an altar to worship God, etc. The problem is that he:
a. Practiced divination.
He practiced the thing that God hated. He must had known that God hated and prohibited the people to practice divination. But he still did it. He did it amazingly, so his practices and services were known till the far places.

b. Practiced damnation.
How could he practice blessing in 1 side and cursing at the other side? How could he allow the same mouth to praise God to curse people? If God didn’t say a thing to him, he would had cursed The Israelites already.

c. Practiced deception.
He lied during his lifetime, to be messenger and to be the curser. He didn’t repent. He didn’t stop doing it. Therefore, Joshua put him to death. So, let’s not practice divination and compromise with it. ASH.
