Ruth 1:16
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, May 30, BELIEVE (Ruth 1:16). Believe is very strong. If someone believes, he can stand toward all challenges. It is not get weaken no matter what the challenges are. We can see it here, that Ruth believed in The God of Israel. Although,
a. She was a Moabite.
A Moabite didn’t worship the God of Israel. How could she believed so strong to The God of Israel? Did she had a perfect life examples from a woman of faith? Did she had many prophets and religious teachers around her?
b. She got no husband.
Her husband, Naomi’s son had died. So, she actually could leave her mother in law and remarriage with other man.
c. She got no living need.
Her husband had died, so automatically, she got no one to give her money, food and so forth.
d. Her mother in law had urged her to go.
Naomi had urged her to leave her and went back to her hometown, just like her sister in law.
e. Her sister in law had left them.
Orpha had left them and went back to her hometown.
f. No promise and possibility that the future would be better.
Nobody gave them any promises that their life would be better in the future. They just no promises, no certain possibilities, that they might have a better life. But, she believed in God strongly. So, let’s we believe in God strongly. ASH.
