1 Samuel 4:10
So the Philistines fought, and the Israelites were defeated and every man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great; Israel lost thirty thousand foot soldiers.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, June 6, DEFEAT (I Sam. 4:10). Sometimes, God allows his children to experience defeats. They are good for spiritual education. Many parents don’t allow their children to experience difficulties, problems. They don’t even allow his children to sweat. The defeat is allowed to:
a. Humble us.
The heaviest problem in our spirituality is pride. We can overcome the other challenge in our spirituality, but not pride. Pride lingers long in our heart. Perhaps, it will always be in our heart.
b. Purify us.
God wanted them to know that the one whom gave them victory was not their strength, their weapons, the ark or else. Only 1 person, God.
c. Strengthen us.
Defeats and problems should be the coal to move forward even greater. So never stop and stay in the defeat. We can be better. ASH.
