Judges 8:16
He took the elders of the town and taught the men of Sukkoth a lesson by punishing them with desert thorns and briers.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, May 16, ELDERS (Judg. 8:16). Being old doesn’t mean being wise. Old is about age. Wise is about faith. The faith toward the true God would make someone wise. If someone has no faith toward God, he would be unwise. The beginning of wisdom is the faith toward God.
a. Faith first.
Faith has to come first. It is not vice versa. It is a cause and effect. Have faith, then have wisdom. No faith, no wisdom. Therefore, the elders were still needed to be taught.
b. Fear first.
Faith toward God would affect the mind. The mind would understand the might of God. He would understand his existence. He would act with respect toward God. He would honor God in all of his actions.
c. Feeling first.
He also would have feeling toward God. He would love God as much as he believe God. The more he believes, the more he loves and on the other hand. So let’s believe God. ASH.
