2 Kings 13:10
In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Aug. 31, FATHER’S CURSE (II Kg. 13:1, 10). Joash did evil in the eyes of God by taking what was not belong to him. He took the offering of his 3 predecessors and gave it to the king of Aram, Hazael. He thought by doing it, he might be safe from Hazael. Yes, in his time, Hazael didn’t attack him. But after he died, Hazael attacked his children and grandchildren. What he had suppose to take care of, he didn’t do. He actually had to defeat Hazael. This was his mistake. The result can be seen in the life of his children. Notice, the way The Bible showing his mistake.
1. His name is kept mentioning in the year of his son and grandson became king.
Notice, that Jehoahaz and Jehoash became king in the year of Joash. This is very unique. Why not in the year of his own name? Why using name of Joash? This to remind the mistake of Joash.

2. His name is kept mentioning in the name of his grandson.
His grandson used exactly the same name of Joash. In English, it is written Jehoash. But in Indonesian, the name is exactly the same, Yoas.

3. His name is kept mentioning till long time.
In the life of his son and grandson, his name was still mentioned. He had died already, but his name was still remembered. His name was also written in the book of annals of the king of Judah.

So, let’s be careful, because the mistake of the father may cause great problems in the life of the children and grand children. ASH.
