Acts 10:2
He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Sept. 8, GIVE (Acts 10:2). Giving is ordinary in any kind of religion. Even, in many religions, people can give very generous to the people and to their god. I remember a man whom gave so very generously by building 400 temples for his god alone. Perhaps, they were ready to give a lot, because of certain intention. We don’t know and we don’t care about their intention. The point is, what about us? Giving can not be separated from us. Notice, the verse connects between giving and praying. A man who prays regularly will give generously. We have to give as much as our prayer. How can a man pray a lot, but he doesn’t care with his surroundings? Prayer is never enough. Empathy is never enough. Being religious is never enough. We have to share from what we have. As long as we can give, let’s give. There is time, where we can’t give. Cornelius gave and prayed. After giving, he prayed. As if, he didn’t want to forget giving. So, he gave first and then, he prayed. He loved giving. He was happy to give. Let’s imitate this beautiful example. Let’s be happy in giving. (ASH)
