Exodus 17:11
As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Dec.15, HELD UP (Ex. 17:11). Holding up hands has many meanings. It is usually also accompanied by certain head position.
a. Hold up.
It is the sign of giving blessings. Pastors usually holding hands up as the sign of God giving blessings to the people. The hands doesn’t have to be straight upward. It is half straight upward and forward.
b. Lift up.
It is the sign of prayer. We pray and we lift our hands and head up. It has to be straight upward. The face has to look upward too.
c. Give up.
It is the sign of surrender. The hands has to be straight upward, but the face look forward. So, we know a little bit more about how did Moses lift his hands up. It is not a useless act. It is not alao a careless act. It contains a meaningnof support, giving blessing and love. ASH.
