Leviticus 16:17
No one is to be in the tent of meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, his household and the whole community of Israel.
Shalom sdr,my devotion today, Sat, Jan. 23, HIMSELF (Lev. 16:17). Aaron was the chosen high priest for The Israelites. He and his sons had been appointed to do all the worship and sacrifice affairs. But, it didn’t mean that they were free from sins all the time. They still could commit sins. They didn’t immune from sins. Therefore:
a. They had to ask the forgiveness from God regularly.
Every time when they come before God, they had to ask forgiveness. It didn’t apply only 1 time.
b. They had to do it first before they did for the people.
Personal sins had to be cleansed first, then, they could ask the forgiveness for the household and then the people.
c. They had to do it together with the people.
Not at a separate time. Meaning, they and the other people at the same level. They were all sinners. They were all limited. They were all weak. They were all needed God. Let’s always remember that position doesn’t free us from sins. Let’s always focus on our worthiness too before God. ASH.
