Judges 4:21
But Jael, Heber’s wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, May 12, JAEL (Judg. 4:21). Jael the wife of Heber was really an awesome woman. Her back ground was not told much. She didn’t appear too many. She was nobody. No achievements so far. She was just a homemaker.
a. She was alone.
She came out and welcomed Sisera kindly. She treated him politely and warmly. She welcomed him into her tent and gave him a drink.
b. She killed alone.
She made a plan to kill him. She had a simple plan. She used simple tools. No weapon. No sword or else. She didn’t go out to ask someone else to help him. She didn’t ask someone else to do the killing. She just didn’t lose the opportunity.
c. She hammered alone.
She could hammer a man at his temple at 1 punch. She didn’t miss. She didn’t fail. How could she know how to kill a general in 1 punch? Where did she get the courage to do that? Most women don’t dare even to slit the throat of a chicken, punch someone with a needle. She did it alone successfully. Yes, everyone can be an awesome person with a little courage. So let’s be courageous. ASH.
