Deuteronomy 23:23
Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do, because you made your vow freely to the Lord your God with your own mouth.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, Apr. 3, LIPS (Deut. 23:23). Our lips were created by God. It is very beneficial. It is very perfect. God has designed it perfectly. Without it, our physical would not be perfect. We can see every creature has its lips. Nothing wrong with the lips. One of the usage of lips is for speaking. This is the thing that brings us problems. Many times, our lips have been missed used. It is used for hurting people. Insulting people. Bullying people. It is also used for lying, speaking dirty and many other inappropriate things. But the most illicit thing is that we use our lips to make a promise to God. When we make a promise
a. God remembers.
God hears and remembers whatever we say to him. He is God. He can’t forget. He remembers each word perfectly without mistake. He understands. He is never misunderstands.
b. God honors.
God doesn’t need anything from men. God never asks anything from us. He can do much better alone than what we can give or do to him. But God honors our imperfect speeches, promises and wishes.
c. God waits.
God waits we to accomplish what we have said. If we don:t revise it, God is still waiting. Have we accomplish our promises to God? ASH.
