2 Samuel 24:17
When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the Lord, “I have sinned; I, the shepherd, have done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.”

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, July 27, SHEPHERD (II Sam. 24:17). A heart of a shepherd is really excellent. It is much more important than a heart of a boss, leader, master, fighter, etc. A shepherd is not perfect, but it excells in the life so beautifully. David had a heart of a shepherd.
a. The humble heart.
People could easily speak and give him advice. He didn’t defend himself. He didn’t hide his mistakes. He didn’t find excuses. He didn’t blame other people.

b. The tender heart.
He could not see other people suffer. He gave himself to take over people’s suffering.

c. The clean heart.
He could not hide sins. He quickly asked God forgiveness. He didn’t like to cover his sins. He didn’t like to justify his acts. He wanted to be close to God always. May we all have the shepherd heart. ASH.
