2 Kings 17:30
The people from Babylon made Sukkoth Benoth, those from Kuthah made Nergal, and those from Hamath made Ashima;

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, Sept. 4, SUKKOTH BENOTH (II Kg. 17:30). It was the name of the not almighty god of Babylon. It was just like the gods of the other nation. The people of Kuthah made Nergal. The people of Hamath made Nergal. Why not almighty?
1. Limited by place.
The god was worshipped only in Babylon. It was not worshipped in other places. The name was not even known in other places.

2. Limited by power.
It could not do anything. Even, the name was given by the people. Nothing it can do, even the simplest thing. How then it help other people, if it could not itself?

3. Limited by people.
It was worshipped by people in that generation. The next generation was not familiar also with the name. Not every person in the nation knew that name and things about it. Obviously, it can’t be compared with God. So let’s worship God alone. ASH.
