Genesis 4:26
Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Oct.19, CALL (Gen. 4:26). Man is forgetful and arrogant. How can man forget to call the name of God for hundred of years? We see here, the descendants of Cain. For hundreds of years, they didn’t call the name of God. They did everything, but 1 thing, calling the name of God. They built a city, raised livestocks, played music, became blacksmith and so forth. But 1 thing, they didn’t do, calling the name of God. After Seth gave birth to his son, Enosh, they started to call the name of God. Why they did that?
a. They were angry.
They heard the story of the thrown out of their father, Cain. They felt that God was unfair to make their life suffer.
b. They were happy.
They saw abundant food, fertile ground, fine climate, etc. They were so obsessed with the new things. They forgot God.
c. They were safe.
They lived in a safe place. No one and nothing harmed them. The situation spoiled them. They didn’t need God.
Many kinds of feeling and wrong understandings may cause us away from God. Do we need God? Do we call the name of God? Let’s always let God intervenes and leads our life everyday. (ASH)
