Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, Oct. 22, PART (Gen. 13:9). Often times, wealth may cause division and many dire problems. Even among brothers and families. We can see here, the division between Abram and Lot. What wealth may cause to human?
a. It may blind the heart of human.
It makes them can’t see important values. For example, the value of brothers is much more valuable than money. Moreover, the value of holiness is also much more important than wealth. Lot chose a place close to the sin city, the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Soon he moved inside to the city.
b. It may block the heart of human.
It makes them can’t find no other solution except parting. Can’t they sit together and talk to find other solution. Can’t they sit and pray, asking God’s wisdom to find solution?
c. It may break the heart of human.
No satisfaction in money. Abr was very rich. He wasn’t satisfied. He wanted more. Even, after making wrong decision, he still can fix it by asking Lot to come back. But he didn’t do it. Therefore, be cautious with wealth, money and fortune. (ASH)
