Psalms 33:8
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, Mar. 4, REVERE (Ps. 33:8). Revere is an homage, honor, respect given to God. Usually, it is used only for God. It is not given usually to man. Revere is not carelessly and easily given to man. The question, is it fine to give reverence to man? Who has the quality to receive reverence? Is it given to the king? To the president? To the pastors? Revere contains:
1. Homage in the heart.
It is not a lip service. It is not only a greeting. It is not mere posture, bowing down, etc. It is a revere heart. Deep down in the heart, he seriously and respectfully revere God.
2. Submission.
A man who revere God, he submit himself to God. He trusts God. He believes God. He obeys all his commands happily. No question asked. No postpone. No bargain.
3. Service.
A man who revere God, he serves God. He uses his time, skill and talent to serve God. Not only serving at the church, but at his life. Not only to the fellow Christian, but to everybody. It is a lie, if he reveres God, but not active in the service to God. So, let’s give the reverence only to God. ASH.
