Deuteronomy 17:6
On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

Deuteronomy 17:7
The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting that person to death, and then the hands of all the people. You must purge the evil from among you.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, March 28, WITNESS (Deut.17:6-7). These verses tell us how great the authority of a witness. What is the most important in a witness is not his name, living place, height, appearance, face, etc. What is the most important in a witness is his statement. His saying. His claim. His testimony. A witness is not giving a mere statement. When his statement is exactly the same as the other witness, then, his statement has to be considered as true. This statement is very authoritative.
a. It determines the decision of the court.
The testimonies of 2 or 3 people can determine the decision and conclusion of the court. If they say the same, then, the edict can be achieved. The judge may make final decision, what to do with the defendant.

b. It determines the life of a defendant.
The witness is not only giving testimonies, he is also has to be the punisher. He has to be the first man to throw the stone toward the guilty.

c. It determines his own life.
One day, when, he is known that his testimony is wrong, then, he has to be punished severely for his lie. So, just say what is true all the time. By words and by walk. ASH.
