Joshua 4:21
He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’

Joshua 4:22
Tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Apr. 18, MEMORIAL (Jos. 4:21-22). Yesterday, we’ve talked about miracle. The great miracle of crossing Jordan. God wanted them to have a memorial for the miracle of crossing Jordan. The thing for memorial was the stone from the middle of the Jordan. To be honest, actually, everything of their life was a miracle. They had so many miracle memorials. They had an ark, the law tablets, manna, the budded stick of Aaron and many things. What was the functions of those memotials?
a. To remind them the love and power of God to them.
God’s power was never simple. God’s power was always awesome. It could never be compared and imitated by men.

b. To remind them their unworthiness.
Who were they to experience so many awesome miracles like that? They were sinners. They were rebellious toward God. They were nothing before God. Yet, God loved them so much.

c. To remind them the will of God.
The stones would remind them what they had to do in their life in the promised land. They were saved and loved to do God’s mission. So, let’s know what is God’s will in our life. ASH.
