Exodus 38:6
They made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Jan. 5, ACACIA (Ex. 38:6). The making of the ark required acacia woods. This gave them different problems. Jems already gave them many problems to cut, clean and weigh. Jems were needed for breast plate. But, the material they got them from the Egyptian. The problem of acacia woods were more than gems. The problem were the material availability. Where could they get the acacia woods? It was impossible for them to plant acacia woods since they were nomads. So they had to cut the tree around them. They didn’t carry the acacia woods from Egypt. They didn’t know that they would need them. God or Moses didn’t tell them to bring them when they got out from Egypt. The problem of the acacia woods:
a. They are thorn trees.
Thorns are many at its log. Some of the thorns could be 20 cm long. It’s really difficult to make a fine pole out of them.
b. They are poisonous trees.
Some of the trees had a poison. It can cause a disease called yellow fever. No wonder the other name for the tree is the yellow fever tree.
c. They are homes for the ants.
Some deserts’ ants like to build their homes on the tree. This of course gave them another problems. But, they didn’t retreat. They convinced themselves to make the fine poles out of them. They made them for God. They gave the best for God. Let’s give the best for God too. ASH.
