2 Samuel 20:10
Amasa was not on his guard against the dagger in Joab’s hand, and Joab plunged it into his belly, and his intestines spilled out on the ground. Without being stabbed again, Amasa died. Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bikri.

2 Samuel 20:12
Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the road, and the man saw that all the troops came to a halt there. When he realized that everyone who came up to Amasa stopped, he dragged him from the road into a field and threw a garment over him.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, July 23, AMASA (II Sam. 20:10, 12). Amasa was the cousin of Joab. He was not a good man.
1. He was a wavy man.
He had no commitment. For a while, he was with Absalom. He was made the army general by Absalom. He agreed. He didn’t refuse. He didn’t say a thing. After Absalom died, he became the army general of David. He didn’t feel guilty. He didn’t ask forgiveness.

2. He was a sluggard man.
He didn’t obey David wholeheartedly as the army general. He obeyed David reluctantly. David asked him to do 1 thing, he did it slowly. Yet, again, after not accomplishing his task well, he didn’t feel.guilty. And the worst, he didn’t come to David, although David had asked him to come. He did other thing. He went to meet Joab. If he really wanted to go to the war zone, he should tell David first.

3. He was a careless man.
He didn’t see that Joab had a sword ready in his hand. He didn’t be on guard well. He didn’t use his military suit on, just as Joab did. We should not copy Amasa. We should be better than him. ASH.
