2 Kings 11:12
Jehoiada brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him; he presented him with a copy of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him, and the people clapped their hands and shouted, “Long live the king!”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Aug. 29, ANOINTING A KING (II Kg. 11:12). I think this is the good formula for anointing a king which The Bible has given us.
1. A crown.
Joash was very young. Only 7 years old when he was anointed to be the king of Judah. He anointed formally
2. A covenant.
Joash also given the covenant of allegiance of the people. Joash knew the commitment of the people. He got the support. He got the oath of the people.
3. A copy of testament.
A king has to rule his kingdom and people justly. What is the standard for his ruling? Not the experience. Not his own wisdom. Not the culture. Not the people. Nothing else. Only 1, that is the testament, the torah, the scripture. The testament is the perfect standard for ruling a kingdom. Joash and every believer can ground and adjust everything on the testament. Not only in the kingdom, but also in the church and in the family. Never forget or underestimate the testament. ASH.
