Psalms 62:9
Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, Apr. 2, BALANCE (Ps. 62:9). Many people believe, that there is a divine balance in heaven. A scale to balance or weigh the people. Not only on earth, but also in heaven. People whom have died on earth, they would be scaled or weighed.
1. Weigh the status.
Status is believed would give big differences in the destiny of men. People with high status, the high born, are believed to have many priviledges. They would be treated differently and specially. They would be treated as high class society people, more than the poor or lowborn people. Just as they had been treated on earth. Everything was the best. Sitting at the front. Had the power when speaking. Etc.
2. Weigh the religion.
People believe that certain religion would give special priviledges. Each of them believe that their own religion is the best, the truest, the most certain to give the priviledges. They consider other religions as frauds.
3. Weigh the good works.
People believe the more they do good works, the better their position and life in heaven. People whom have many alms, donations, etc., would be guaranteed to enter and got the best place in heaven. They forget, that this is exactly the thing that James and John wanted to have. So, believe in grace, not in scale. ASH.
