Zechariah 5:8
He said, “This is wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue Aug. 11, BASKET (Zech. 5:8). This is a unique basket. It is big enough to contain a woman in it. The woman is wickedness. It is not a name. It is rather a person. Wickedness is a person. It is alive. It is not only a dead name. It is a real person. It is a real existence. The point is that, although it is real, but it is controlled. It can not decide to do things on her own. Notive, she waited. She obeyed. She stayed. Wherever she was brought, she didn’t complain. Whenever she was asked to start, she obeyed. So wickedness is real. But she is not working on its own will. She is controlled completely. She is commanded to do things according to a more powerful person, God. If God doesn’t command her to do things when and where, she is mute and inactive. Until God gives commands, she will be active powerfully. So don’t be afraid of wickedness. Wickedness is in God’s control. God allows and controls her completely to achieve God’s purpose. We just have to be righteous all the time in our life. -ash
