1 Chronicles 26:8
All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work—descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, Oct. 8, CAPABLE (I Chron. 26:8). It is really interesting to know that even the gatekeepers needed capabilities. The gatekeepers were not the unable men. They were not doing simple things. They needed some capabilities.
1. Capable to control the time between families and works.
They had their families too. They had to be able to control their time, duties, responsibilities in the family. So the responsibilities were not messed up between families and ministries.

2. Capable to communicate kindly to the people.
Some people might be unworthy to enter into the temple. They had to guard the decency and sobriety of the people.

3. Capable to carry on the work.
They had to work several hours in the temple. They had to keep watching for the people coming to the temple. They had to be healthy, so they could be alert all the time. So, simple matters needed capable men. Yes, all ministries need capable men. ASH.
