Joshua 17:16
The people of Joseph replied, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the plain have chariots fitted with iron, both those in Beth Shan and its settlements and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, May 1, CHARIOTS (Jos. 17:16). Chariots at that time is the same as nuclear weapons today. They were the lethal weapons at that time. The more a king had chariots, the more powerful the king was. Moreover if the chariots were fitted with irons, the more powerful the king was. No wonder the people of Joseph were afraid of the Canaanites. Why the people of Joseph could easily forget the great miracles that God had done for them? The miracle of crossing the dry Red Sea. The miracle of manna and so forth. And the most recent, the miracle of defeating Jericho without warring. So the lessons are:
a. Forget can be dangerous.
They forget God, forget the experiences, forget the miracles, forget the promises of God and so forth. Therefore, they were afraid.

b. Forget can be destructive.
Forget can make them doing nothing because of fear. They would stay in a small area. They wouldn’t dare to expand the area. They wouldn’t dare to fight the enemies. They wouldn’t dare to try new things.

c. Forget can make them be depending.
They would never stand on their own feet. They just waited and depended on Joshua to help them and to give them everything. That would make them lazy. So, don’t forget God’s miracles and helps in our life. Be strong and be brave. ASH.
