Job 16:2
“I have heard many things like these; you are miserable comforters, all of you!
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Jan. 4, COMFORTER (Job 16:2). Job’s friends actually didn’t help or comfort Job at all. Their intention was to help, but in reality, they add more burdens on Job. Sometimes, good intention is not enough. Good intention has to be accompanied with:
1. Good timing.
When the speech would be given. The friends of Job supposed to give the time for Job to speak more. Not bombarding Job with advice, opinions, accusations one after one.
2. Good speech.
The word is important. Good intention + good timing still not enough. If the speech is good, then the result would be better.
3. Good gesture.
Good timing, good intention, good speech still not enough. It has to added with good gesture. We suppose to interact appropriately. Although, we are speaking to close friends. So, let’s be better comforter. ASH.
