Judges 19:1
In those days Israel had no king. Now a Levite who lived in a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim took a concubine from Bethlehem in Judah.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, May 27, CONCUBINE (Judg. 19:1). When something is wrong from the beginning, it tends to be wrong all the way to the end. In here, we can see that The Levite was wrong at the beginning, took a concubine.
a. Marry formally.
He didn’t marry her formally. He didn’t make her his wife. He just took it to be his concubine. He let her to stay as a concubine. No wonder, she left him. Because, no covenant, no agreement.

b. Teach thoroughly.
He had to teach her what and what not to do. She actually, couldn’t leave him. He actually, shouldn’t let her go. He had to find the reason of her leaving. He had to learn to solve the problems.

c. Work seriously.
He seemed not serious with his work as a Levite. How did he not tell the people, where he was going? For how long? How could he stay away for days? How could a Levite eating and drinking for that long. Many problems and distortions. Let’s live properly and graciously. ASH.
