1 Chronicles 18:10
He sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory in battle over Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold, of silver and of bronze.
1 Chronicles 18:11
King David dedicated these articles to the Lord, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek.
1 Chronicles 18:13
He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, Sept. 30, CONGRATULATE (I Chron. 18:10-11, 13). David was a strong man. Not only talking about the physical strength, spiritual strength (he had a strong faith to God) or else. But also his understanding. He understood that every victories that he had were given from God. He realized that everything was not because of his ability, but God gifts. He didn’t forget that although
1. People congratulate him.
Many people, men and women congratulated and praised him. Many women praised him more than Saul. Many people, nobles to the peasants praised him. He didn’t forget the victories came from God.
2. Articles of gold dazzling him.
He took many articles, gold, bronze and silver from many nations. He didn’t take them for himself. Even, the gold articles which was given to him as gifts from his king friends. He didn’t use them even a piece. He took them all to the temple and offered to God. He had enough. He had more than enough. He just wanted to make God happy.
3. His own feeling tempted him.
He might had a proud inside of his heart. His heart would congratulated himself. He understood that. He felt it. Therefore. He quickly came to God to worship and medidate. He guarded himself from the sin of arrogance. Shall we do the same when we feel success? ASH.
