Psalms 123:3
Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, June 2, CONTEMPT (Ps. 123:3). Men like to underestimate or insult other men. Whether verbally or non verbally. Deep down in the heart, they say bad things toward other people. David knew that many people ridiculed him.
1. He didn’t ridicule them back.
He didn’t say bad things toward them back. He didn’t use foul language toward them. He knew that they were not spiritual. If they were spiritual, they wouldn’t do that. And if David did the same like that, he would be not spiritual too.

2. He didn’t use his power to punish them.
He didn’t misuse his power to catch and punish them. If he did it, then, the prison would be full with prisoners or he has no more citizen. Because, there were so many people who did it.

3. He didn’t pray so that God would harm them.
David didn’t ask God to punish them. On the other hand, he asked God mercy. He realuzed that he had so many weaknesses and mistakes. He realized he was a sinner and unworthy. He asked God to forgive and bless him. So, if we are ridiculed, realize our weaknesses. Ask God mercy. ASH.
