2 Chronicles 13:5
Don’t you know that the Lord, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Oct. 24, COVENANT OF SALT (II Chron. 13:5). We know the covenant of blood. We know also the covenant of peace. But perhaps, we are not very familiar with the covenant of salt. What is the meaning of it?
a. Remembrance.
They have to do it every time they offer the grain offering. It would make them remember their covenant with God.

b. Influence.
Salt is small, yet it is strong. It can give influence. It has many usages. It can give taste. It permeates. It also can heal. We are small, but can give influence.

c. Perpetual.
When they see salt, use salt and so forth, they would remember that the covenant with God is eternal. God never changes his mind. God would never renew the covenant. Once for all. So we are blessed with the same blessing. God loves us eternally. ASH.
