1 Samuel 22:18
The king then ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests.” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down. That day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.
1 Samuel 22:19
He also put to the sword Nob, the town of the priests, with its men and women, its children and infants, and its cattle, donkeys and sheep.
Shalom.sdr, my devotion today, Thu, June 24, CRUEL (I Sam. 22:18-19). A man whom had been chosen by God didn’t guarantee that he certainly would be a good man. It doesn’t mean that God is wrong. But the point is that men are limited. The best man like Saul could be so cruel like this.
a. He killed the priests.
He killed 85 priests, whom had done nothing wrong with him. Actually, only 1 priest whom gave David food and a sword, that was Ahimelech. He even didn’t if David actually was a fugitive. But he killed all the priests without mercy.
b. He killed all the people in Nob.
Saul didn’t only kill the priests. He also killed all the people, men and women, adults and infants, old and young. Everybody was put to the sword.
c. He killed all the cattles.
Even, all the cattles had been killed by Saul, donkeys, sheep. The thing that he had to do on Agag, he did it to Nob. So, we have to show Jesus in us through our actions. Don’t be like Saul, whom had been chosen by God, but, doing so horrible sins. ASH.
