Luke 23:45
For the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Aug. 31, CURTAIN (Lk.23:45). It was just a big curtain at the temple, yet it contained very important implications. It was the curtain that stopped men to enter the holy of holiest. It was the curtain that demanded them to have a representative, a high priest to go in there in a certain occasions. It was the curtain that stopped them to see what happened with the priest iniside the holy of holiest. It was the curtain which caused them to feel unworthy before God. Nothing can make the laymen worthy to come inside the curtain. After the death of Christ, the curtain torn into 2, those things have been changed. Now everybody can come before him at any time. No more unworthy feeling. No more priest needed in personal worships. No more animal sacrifices for the atonement of sin. No money spent to buy the animals and to make the big curtain. The last but not the least, the curtain was the symbol of the distant relationship between men and God. Now, no more. Man is close to God. Is united. Is one. We can call him Father. Because, he has made us his children. Has forgiven us once for all. Has lived inside us. (ASH)
