1 Kings 15:4
Nevertheless, for David’s sake the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and by making Jerusalem strong.
1 Kings 15:5
For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life—except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, Aug. 11, DAVID’S SAKE (I Kg. 15:4-5). This statement was written a long time after David had died. God still claimed that he loved David. Many people would forget the loved ones after the loved ones had deceased. Yes, people may forget, but God never forgets. For the people, the deceased may be history. But for God, they are his story.
1. His love is strong.
As the time goes by, many people would not have the same strong love. His love was still full and flaming.
2. His love is sound.
God loved David didn’t mean that he didn’t punish David. Didn’t mean that God let David go free. He can’t compromise with sin. He is holy. He is just. He is true.
3. His love is sacred.
He didn’t forget his love and then loved other person. He didn’t remove David from his mind and heart and then loved the other person. He didn’t speak bad things behind David. He still respected David. He still said that he loved David with a holy and sacred love. Nobody replaces David in the heart of God. He still mentioned the name David long after this chapter and even till forever. Let’s love God and others even more. ASH.
