1 Samuel 23:14
David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hills of the Desert of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands.
1 Samuel 23:24
So they set out and went to Ziph ahead of Saul. Now David and his men were in the Desert of Maon, in the Arabah south of Jeshimon.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, June 25, DESERTS (I Sam. 23:14, 24). The life of David was really unpredictable. He as the chosen and anointed next king of Israel had to live from desert to desert. I believe he himself never knew about it. His life changed very rapidly.
a. From shepherd to a famous warrior.
I believe he would never think that his experience in fighting and killing lions, bears and wild animals would be beneficial for killing Goliath and ten of thousands of Phillistines.
b. From poor Jesse’s son to wealthy Saul’s son in law.
I believe he would never think that because of all his victories, Saul would make him his son in law by giving his daughter to David in marriage.
c. From palace to the desert.
I believe the most unpredictable thing in his life so far was leaving the palace to live in the deserts. He had to live in the most unpleasant place. He had to lie his body on the non flat surface. But, that is life. We just never know what God would allows us to experience. We just have to believe and always be strong, wouldn’t we? ASH.
