1 Kings 6:38
In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Aug 2, DETAIL (I Kg. 6:1, 37-38). Building anything may be fast, may be slow. We can do it quickly or we can do it slowly. It is not about the laziness. This is about the quality. Solomon built the thing quickly. But when he built that thing detailly, it took so much time. Notice, when he started to build the temple, it was on the 4th year. He laid the foundation of the temple also on the 4th year. But he finished the temple detailly on the 11th year. It took about a year to build the outer and the articles of the temple. Bur it took 7 year to finish the detail of the inside of the temple and detail of the articles. What we can learn from this story?
1. Building the inside takes so much time.
It was not a piece of cake job. It was not a careless job. It was not a game. It has to be done seriously. It took so much time with focus on that job.
2. Building the inside takes so much treasures.
It was covered with gold. It was made from the most expensive fabrics. It was ornamented with precious stones and jems. The best wood and every material was the best. Solomon gave the best thing that he could give.
3. Building the inside takes so much thinking.
He had to give meanings to every detail, name, color, size, placement and shape of the articles of the temple. Everything had its own meaning. Nothing was a useless article. Therefore, we have to imitate. Building things require so much time, treasure and thinking. ASH.
