Genesis 46:30
Israel said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Nov. 24, DIE (Gen. 46:30). I believe many people would be terrified when they are faced with death. But, uniquely some people are not. Paul said boldly that death is gain. Same thing as Jacob. Jacob was not afraid of death. He didn’t deter or defer from death.
a. He said it repeatedly.
He said it again and again. For him death is not a scary thing.
b. He said it consistently.
He had said it before, when he hadn’t meet wuth Joseph. Now, months later, after he met with Joseph, he said it again.
c. He said it publicly.
He said it in front of all of his children, in front of all the people, in front of everybody.
d. He said it confidently.
If he has to die now, he would be ready. Nothing pull him back. Nothing stop him. Nothing had not been dealing with.
e. He said it contentedly.
Nothing that he has done, achieve and even collect in his life might make him change his decision. He was so happy to die. He was satisfied by seeing Joseph. I think this should be our feeling. We have to prepare to die, so that we may be wiser to use our time well while we are still alive on earth. ASH.
