Numbers 3:23
The Gershonite clans were to camp on the west, behind the tabernacle.

Numbers 3:38
Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the tent of meeting. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, Feb. 6, EAST (Num. 3:23, 38). Do you know where the tabernacle facing? Yes, the tabernacle facing to the east. East is related to the goodness, freshness and hope. Why?
a. It is used for the place of the sunrise.
Sun rises always at the east and sets at the west. It symbolizes consistency, continuity and contingency.

b. It is used for the place of the coming of the blessing.
The blessing many times comes from the east. Eden was at the east. The Magi came from the east.

c. It is used for the place of going to the better.
The people at the time of Noah was gathered at the east (Gen. 11:2). Abraham went to the east, to go to Canaan (Gen. 12:8). Javob went to the east (Gen. 29:1). The cities of protection also at the east (Deut. 4:41). So, toward the east is good. But God never commands us to face only to the east. Facing everywhere is good. The goodness never comes from directions. The goodness only comes from God. ASH.
