Colossians 1:7
You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
Colossians 1:8
and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Sept. 28, EPAPHRAS (Col. 1:7-8). Today, we can see the fruit of the pure gospel in the life of a humble person, Epaphras. We can see several things in his life.
a. Poverty.
Epaphras, the fellow servant. He realized that if he wanted to befriended with Paul, he would have nothing financially. He would have nothing materially. The ministry of Paul was the non profit ministry. He had to be ready to lose everything. He had to pay everything by his own. He had to spend his living cost alone without any organization supported him. He had to be ready to lose, not to gain or earn money. Yet, he was faithful.
b. Humility.
Serving with Paul and started new ministries were very heavy. They would face many kind of people. They would face ridiculements, insults and scorns. Yet, he was faithful.
c. Loyalty.
He didn’t join Paul for a short period of time. He joined Paul till the end of Paul’s life. Yet, he was faithful.
Let’s learn the faithfulness of Epaphras in the midst of difficulties and sufferings, he was faithful. (ASH)
