Daniel 10:3
I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, July 28, FASTING (Dan. 10:3). There are so many kinds of fasting. In here, we can see a certain kind of fasting, that is not eating choice food, meat and drinking wine. Meaning, still eating main meal, perhaps, wheat or cereal and fruits vegetables. So Daniel was not fasting by not eating anything at all. He still ate many things, but different kind. Fasting is also not about eating. It can be about restraining. Restraining from speaking, from travelling and the most important thing is the restraing from sinning. Fasting is also about intention or motivation. We have to be careful with the motive of fasting. The motive is not about benefiting self. It has to be for the God’s work. Daniel in his good position still fasting for 3 weeks. Do we ever fasting? Do we have to fast? Depends to ourselves, what kind, when, how long and what purpose. But make sure the fasting is for seeking God’s will and glory. -ash
