1 Chronicles 5:1
The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (he was the firstborn, but when he defiled his father’s marriage bed, his rights as firstborn were given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel; so he could not be listed in the genealogical record in accordance with his birthright,

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Fri, Sept. 17, FIRSTBORN (I Chron. 5:1). Being the firstborn is very important. It is a gift. It should be honored. But many people don’t want to honor itnwell. Why it is important?
1. Got the inheritance.
Every firstborn has the right to get the inheritance of the parent and family.

2. Carry the name of the family.
The firstborn son has to carry and continue the name of the family. He is the future of the family. The name of the family will go with him.

3. Recorded in the genealogy.
Firstborn name is recorded in the genealogical book. It will stay there forever. It will be remembered forever.

Jacob took cunningly the firstborn right from his brother, Esau. He exchanged it with a bowl of lentil. He tricked Esau to sell it to him. His firstborn son, Reuben, lost his firstborn right. He didn’t honor it. Not because his brothers tricked him. But, he himself lost it by a very sinful way. He slept on his father’s bed with 1 of Jacob’s wife. Let’s honor every blessing that God has given to us. ASH.
