Leviticus 17:8
“Say to them: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, Jan. 24, FOREIGNER (Lev. 17:8). The Israelites may have a connection with the foreigners. They are not prohibited to have a contact with the foreigners. They are not isolated from the outside world. The foreigners even may live and reside among them. They may come into their community. They may work and even bring offerings to God. What is prohibited:
a. The culture.
The Israelites can never adopt and adapt to the foreigner culture. They have their own culture. They can’t combine their culture with the outside and other culture.
b. The food.
They could not offer and eat animals outside from their community. From their own cattle and herd. They are so afraid that the food would be unclean and make them unclean.
c. The belief.
They can never change and exchange their belief to God with other nations. They are the chosen people. They have to honor and worship.God forever. I think this particular point applies to us too. We shouldn’t exchange our belief and have to be faithful to God forever. ASH.
