Psalms 41:9
Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sat, Mar. 12, FRIEND (Ps. 41:9). We were created as social human beings. We can’t live alone. We need friends. We need other people. There are several kinds of friends.
1. Close friend.
Having close friend is not easy. Sometimes, a man has not even 1 close friend. He might have many friends, but not 1 close friend. Close friend is a friend living at the same place, same age, same area, same school, same church, etc. It’s just temporary.

2. Best friend.
Close friend not always best friend. Best friend is tested by many tests. Tested by time. Tested by distance. Tested by troubles. Many times, the relationship between friends is broken by time, distance and troubles. When they are close, living at the same place and seeing no troubles, they can be fine. Once all of the troubles come, the fake friend would be broken.

3. True friend.
Jesus is called not as close or best friend. He is called as true friend. He is not a mere friend. He won’t leave us. He won’t be the same as other friend. He would rebuke if needed. He would be angry to us, but he won’t fail us. He won’t leave us in suffering. How happy to have a true friend. ASH.
