1 Chronicles 9:21
Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
1 Chronicles 9:22
Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David and Samuel the seer.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Tue, Sept. 21, GATEKEEPERS (I Chron. 9:21-22). What is the dream job of everybody? If we can choose our own dream job, then, we would be happy, wouldn’t we? We want to be a rich person, working littel, but high income. What about these people, were their dream jobs the gatekeepers?
1. The less importance.
They didn’t take care of the rooms, treasuries, food, sacrifice, temple articles, etc, which considered more important than being gatekeepers.
2. The less interesting.
Gatekeepers are not mentioned too much. Perhaps, the duties were not too many. Less variations. Less challenges.
3. The less requirements.
Being a gatekeeper of course not the same as the high priest whom had to enter the holy of holiest. But, they liked to do it. What about us, do we want to serve God in any positions? ASH.
