1 Samuel 11:14
Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, let us go to Gilgal and there renew the kingship.”
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sun, June 13, GILGAL (I Sam. 11:14). Gilgal was not a mere place for The Israelites. Gilgal was a very important place for The Israelites. Gilgal was very special for them.
a. A place of commemoration.
At Gilgal, Joshua placed 12 stones from Jordan as a memory that God had done great miracle for them, that was crossing the river on dry ground.
b. A place of celebration.
They celebrated their covenant, victories and happiness in Gilgal. They celebrated passover at Gilgal too.
c. A place of coronation.
In Gilgal, Saul was ordained as king. So this place was very important to remember that in Gilgal, Saul was confided and ordained as king. A place of remembrance like that is important to help us always give thanks for God’s blessing over us. ASH.
