Hosea 2:7
She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my husband as at first, for then I was better off than now.’
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Wed, July 29, GO BACK (Hos. 2:7). The story of missing son (prodigal son) is not the only story about something missing. There are stories about missing coin, missing sheep and in this chapter, missing wife. Which one is the most difficult to be found? Coin is lifeless and soundless. Sheep is alive, but is well known for its short memory. It can’t remember its way back home. Son is alive, but he was driven back home for his poverty. Wife? She is alive, tied with a vow, witnessed by many witnesses and in this position, she was happy. She had no plan and will to go back home to her husband. If not by God’s mercy, she was for sure could never come back home. So the answer would be the wife. The wife is the most difficult to be found. Thankfully, God did not sit and do nothing. He helped and intervened. He made her realize that she had to go back to her husband. He convinced her heart to do the act. This i s yhe heart of God. He never throws and leaves behind his children. He wants us to have a good life. He helps us to do that and he makes us able to do it. All the glory for God. -ash
