Acts 26:14
We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Sept. 12, GOADS (Acts 26:14). Paul was a great man. Great in intellect, spirit, enthusiasm, position, experience, friendship and so forth. In short, he was the best man at that time. But the best man, even, the greater man more than Paul, if there was any, was nothing for God. Man can’t do anything to God. God in this verse is depicted as a goad. It’s impossible for an animal to kick, to lose free, to refuse, to look to the other direction or to do anything to the goad. It is too high and too interesting for the animal to refuse. It has to come closer to satisfy its hunger. Yes, God is much higher than the greatest man ever be. Man is nothing compares to God. What man can do toward God? Just like Paul, let’s humbly acknowledge our weaknesses and limitations. Let’s be obedient to God. Let’s also be useful for God. (ASH)
