2 Kings 22:8
Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the Lord.” He gave it to Shaphan, who read it.
2 Kings 22:10
Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, Sept. 9, HILKIAH (II Kg. 22:8, 10). Hilkiah was the priest at the time of Josiah reigned as a king. He was the priest whom had found the book of the law in the temple. The discovery of the law was so phenomenal for him.
1. Found.
Where was the book so far? Did they not read it so far? Did they perform things without reading it? Why the people not asking the priest to read the law so far?
2. Read.
Saphan read the book. He was so moved and touched by the book. He directly proposed to bring the book to the king. Hilkiah didn’t say a thing. He didn’t ask him to bring the book to anyone. Saphan himself had the idea. Saphan was very brave, when he brought it to the king.
3. Share.
Saphan, the secretary gave it to the king after reading it for himself. He, then, read it too for the king. The result of the reading was the same as what had been felt by Saphan, even greater. The king repented. Have we read the law? ASH.
