2 Samuel 5:13
After he left Hebron, David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem, and more sons and daughters were born to him.

2 Samuel 5:19
So David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”

Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, July 8, INQUIRE (II Sam. 5:13, 19). Prayer is important. David knew the importance of prayer well. He prayed many times. He enjoyed prayer and communicating with God. He spent times with God in the pasture, when he was shepherding his sheep. He prayed whether he had to pursue The Amalekites whom had taken their wives and children or not (I Sam. 30:8). But, he didn’t pray, when:
a. He wanted to marry many women.
David at least had 7 wives. He didn’t inquire God before he marry them. And the worse, he didn’t care the nationality and religion of the wives. David didn’t care wherever they were from. Actually, he had to take only 1 wife from Judah, just like Abraham took a woman for Isaac.

b. He wanted to have many concubines and wives.
He didn’t feel satisfied with many wives. He still wanted to have many concubines and wives again.

c. He wanted to build a palace.
He actually had to inquire when he wanted to build a palace. He actually had to inquire God before he did everything. Let’s inquire God in whatever we do. ASH.
