2 Chronicles 3:17
He erected the pillars in the front of the temple, one to the south and one to the north. The one to the south he named Jakin and the one to the north Boaz.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Thu, Oct. 14, JAKIN BOAZ (II Chron. 3:17). It is really interesting to know that the pillars at the temple were named. They named many other things, but why pillars? What was the purpose?
1. To avoid mistakes.
To show direction, to improve clarity, to avoid misunderstanding.
2. To show balance.
The implication was clear, that the ministry had to be balanced with life. Jakin was the symbol of ministry, priesthood, sacredity. Boaz symbolized business, working and daily life. A man had to balance between those 2. A man should not only emphasize 1 and fail in the other.
3. To emphasize honesty.
Balance was important, but what was more important was the honesty. A man had to be honest all the time. He had to live and exist as he was. No make up. No dishonesty. No waxing. No pretending. He had to be the same at the front and at the end. At the front, business. At the end, spiritual. Not good at the front, but bad at the back. We have to improve the integrity. ASH.
