2 Chronicles 21:20
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
Shalom sdr, my devotion today, Mon, Nov. 1, JEHORAM (II Chron. 21:20). Jehoram was the most pitiful king of Israel. His life story was gloomy, especially at the end.
1. Died in a young age.
He died in a very young age, that was 40 years old. People say that 40 is just the beginning of the real life or maturity. He died in a horrible illness. He died and no one could heal him.
2. Reigned only short time.
He reigned only for 8 years. Such a very short period of time. He was not the shortest reigning king. But still, he was not long to be a king.
3. Buried not in the king’s tomb.
He was buried not in the king’s tomb. Meaning, he was not honored, equalized and remembered just as the other kings. His burial might be very simple, just as the mere laymen. Lord, please have mercy on us. ASH.
